Utility source register

Parking — Parkin tariff disclosure via DFM; published rules; checked on policy change. Current VAT evidence also uses a Parkin-attributed secondary report.

Metro — RTA timetables; published schedule; monitored daily for announced changes. Status is calculated, not live service data.

Nol — RTA Nol fares; published fare table; checked when RTA announces a fare change.

Salik — Salik/RTA toll rules; published rate schedule; monitored for announced changes. Status is calculated.

Taxi — RTA taxi fare schedules; published starting fares; monitored for announced changes. A displayed starting fare is not a trip quote.

Petrol — UAE Fuel Price Committee announcements; monthly published prices. The current evidence link is a Gulf News report of the committee announcement where no stable primary URL is recorded.

Airport transport — Dubai Airports and RTA; published terminal and transport information; checked for announced changes. Availability is not live.

Public holidays — FAHR, WAM, MoHRE and u.ae; official announcements; checked daily. Islamic dates may remain expected until confirmation.

Ramadan — official UAE announcements, labour authorities and IACAD where available; seasonal checks. Expected dates are distinct from confirmed dates.

School calendar — UAE Ministry of Education 2026–27 official calendar; annual calendar with change monitoring. Other-curriculum private schools may differ.

How utility data is maintained

Prefer the responsible authority or operator's primary publication.
Store the published rule or date separately from the answer shown to the user.
Use deterministic Dubai-time calculations for schedule-based status.
Monitor for changes; review flagged differences before changing verified data.
Show expected, stale or secondary evidence honestly when primary confirmation is unavailable.

News (secondary section)

Our news section aggregates publicly available reporting from a registered set of sources, including Google News feeds for Dubai, the UAE and specific topics (business, property, transport, travel), plus selected media outlets such as Al Jazeera. Each item passes through several stages:

Collection — headlines and article links are gathered from the registered RSS feeds.
Relevance filtering — rule-based filters remove items that are clearly unrelated to Dubai or the UAE.
Duplicate detection — similar stories are grouped so the same topic is not repeated.
AI-assisted processing — automated tools help summarise the item, assess relevance to Dubai/UAE, and add context such as why it matters.
Publication — the summary is published with a link to the original source article.

Public holidays — how we verify

UAE public holiday dates are verified against official UAE sources in this order of priority:

FAHR — Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (official federal government holiday announcements).
WAM — Emirates News Agency.
MoHRE — Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (used when official private-sector announcements are available).
u.ae — the UAE government portal.

General holiday-schedule websites (for example publicholidays.ae) are used only as a secondary reference for expected dates, never as official confirmation. A holiday is marked Confirmed only when an official source explicitly announces the dates for that year; otherwise it stays Expected.

Federal Government and Private Sector holiday status are tracked separately, because the two sectors can have different dates. When the private sector has not yet been officially announced, we say so instead of guessing.

Events & calendar

Event dates are collected programmatically from official or published sources (for example GITEX Global from gitex.com and Dubai event listings), and only stored when the date can be determined reliably. The calendar combines news, daily reports, holidays and events by date.

Our limitations

We cannot guarantee that every piece of information is complete or error-free — please verify critical details against the official source.
Islamic-calendar holiday dates (Eid, Arafat Day, Islamic New Year, Prophet's Birthday) depend on official announcements and can shift by a day or two.
