Editorial Policy

How we approach accuracy, attribution, corrections and updates.

Utility data first

For fares, timetables, holidays and school dates, we use primary sources first: the responsible authority, operator or official publication. A reliable secondary report is used only when the primary evidence is unavailable, and that limitation is stated rather than disguised.

Published rules and computed answers

Parking, Salik, Metro and similar status tools are deterministic calculations using Dubai time and stored, published rules. They are labelled schedule-based or calculated. They do not claim to show live gates, disruptions, road conditions or space availability.

Source attribution

When information comes from an original report or an official announcement, we clearly attribute the source. News items include a link to the original article, and holiday dates include a link to the official source used for verification.

News summaries

Summaries on Dubai Brief are intended to help readers quickly grasp the key points of a story. They are not a replacement for the original article. Where an original article exists, we provide a link so readers can read the full report from the source.

Use of automated tools

Automated tools, including AI-assisted processing, may be used to help organise or summarise information. This is how we describe it:

• AI-assisted results are never presented as official announcements.
• Original sources are provided wherever one exists.

Utility rules and calculations do not depend on generative AI. News is a secondary section; automated tools may assist its organisation and summaries, subject to source attribution and quality gates.

Corrections

When we identify a material error, we correct it as soon as reasonably possible. Report an error with the affected URL and supporting source. Material source or rule corrections may be noted on our methodology page.

Updates

Automated monitors can flag a possible change, but do not silently replace verified utility data. A flag is reviewed against evidence; stale or unverified information is labelled. “Last verified” means the source or stored rule was checked, while “calculated” is the time at which a schedule-based answer was computed.
