RTA Opens Major Bridge under Oud Metha and Al Asayel Streets Development Project

Summary

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority opened a three-lane bridge on Sunday as part of the Oud Metha and Al Asayel Streets Development Project. The bridge has a capacity of 3,600 vehicles per hour and serves traffic from Al Khail Road towards Al Asayel Street via Al Wasl Club Street. RTA announced that 90% of the overall project is complete, and two tunnels are scheduled to open by the end of August, including one connecting Oud Metha Street's service road to the Sheikh Rashid Road intersection for traffic heading towards Bur Dubai.

Why it matters

Commuters on Al Khail Road and Al Asayel Street will benefit from reduced congestion immediately, while the upcoming tunnels by end of August are expected to ease traffic overlaps on Oud Metha Street and the Dubai–Al Ain Road corridor.
